‘Explore Palatine’ Event Saturday, August 29, 2020
The event is part of a greater initiative to encourage Palatine residents to support local and keep sales tax dollars in the Village, whenever possible.

The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) is spearheading ‘Explore Palatine’, an event that encourages residents to make a point of shopping in Palatine, and supporting the local business community on Saturday, August 29, 2020 and whenever possible.
Event participants must be either Palatine-based businesses and organizations, or Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce members, and can click this link to register to be a part of this one-day event. Businesses and organizations can promote their participation in Explore Palatine by hosting sales, specials, or simply by displaying a yellow balloon outside of their locations on September 14th. Information can also be shared on business and organization social media pages in support of Explore Palatine with the following hashtag and social media tags; #ExplorePalatine @PalatineChamber.
On this day, Palatine residents are encouraged to explore the Village’s hidden gems, including places they may have not patronized in the past such as retail stores, service providers, restaurants and more.
“Local businesses employ our residents and sales taxes support the entire Village – so shopping local not only helps our businesses thrive, it also contributes to strengthening our local community,” said Gale Cohen-DeMarco, the event co-chair and owner of SportClips in Palatine.
Sales tax dollars generated from Palatine businesses directly impact the community; $48 of a $100 purchase stays in Palatine when an individual shops at an independent local store, while $14 stays in Palatine when they are patronizing larger, regional businesses in Palatine – but just $1 stays in Palatine when people shop online.
Explore Palatine is an outgrowth of PACC’s ‘Think Local’ campaign. Open to all Palatine businesses (even if they are not chamber of commerce members) and all Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce members, the campaign was created to generate awareness about the impact that supporting local businesses can have, and educating residents and business owners about the importance of keeping sales tax dollars within the community whenever possible. PACC members that would like to participate in Explore Palatine have different options if they would like to set up a promotional table for the event.
